It was hot outside today. ugh. i had to ride my bike to the library...again. not the first time. but i tend to complain frivolously. But anyway... there was an astronomy program today. o_e wow. it was so cool! -.-" yeah a billion slides of fun on a powerpoint. and not to mention the highlight of the event. we all got buttons. haha. button. funny word. anyway. it was still cool. hanging out with chi, ty, lupe, and a girl i just met. her name was something with an m. so i'll just call her emm. SORRY EMM!!!! I FORGOT YOUR NAME!!! there's was this cute guy too. but i can only look...i can't touch. :D cause i have ricky. lol. well now ricky, aren't you just special? you get mentioned in this blog post. Ivette. [[there i mentioned you too]] ;) jk. well see ya! i'm texting my bloodsucker friend, caius. [[mentioned you too!!!]]

Random Days at the Library :D

Ivette - July 8

Wow. Today was a looong day. Harry, Maria && I took the bus && train ALL the way downtown to the Central Library to pick up some puppets for the puppet show coming up. Boy was it HOTT!! All I thought about on our way was the cold Dr.Pepper in my bag, begging for me to drink it. But I didn't because I knew I wouldnt finish it by the time we got to the library. Plus that meant I had to hold something else in my hand other than my purse. Did I forget to mention about the super cute guy sitting next to Harry on the train?? Well when we got on, Harry sat next to him && Maria && I sat in the seat besides Harry. Me and Maria came up with a lame excuse to talk to him. We "needed" a pen && he happened to have one :] lol. So he let us (well Harry because he asked) borrow one, but Maria && I gave it back to him, but this time we were sitting behind them since the seat got empty a few min later. After that, he wasn't as cute any more. Only from a distance. So sad :( lol. Omgosh!! On our way back from the library, Harry && I were carrying some red boxes filled with puppets, while maria's loser self just carried the purses && the wolf puppet, to the station. Well Harry went to this restaurant to order some food && while he was in there... Maria && I decided to prank him by getting on the other side of the train station to make him think the train && us left him. Man, you should have seen his face!! One of the most terrified, confused faces ever!! His eyes just opened up wide && he looked so hard. But then we caught his attention. Ahh.. Classic :]

manager meeting

I was asked to attend a Manager's meeting this afternoon to share best practices on providing teens resources and services that will bring them to the Library. I chose to focus on teen volunteerism at Hampton due to the fabulous teen spirit being shared with our community this summer. Instead of sharing my thoughts on why teens enjoy volunteering, I asked both staff and volunteers to tell me why....well, actually not me, but Chi! Chi interviewed staff and volunteers and the words that came up most from staff were: Teens bring creativity, life and fresh ideas to our work! The theme for why teens enjoy volunteering is a belief they can inspire others to read, something fun to be involved in, and to not be bored at home during the summer!

After I presented the feedback I asked to take a few pictures in order to share with the teens on their blog, so here is your management team!

Teen Meeting Today

There will be a quick teen meeting today, around a little after noon or so. FRIDAY, SATURDAY &&&& MONDAY-THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED. :)
