FUN!!!!!!!!!

Today I got to hold like part of a snake (EEEWWW)and cary an aligator outside (in a bucket) for the unhuggables progam it was totaly awsome. Then I got to be mean for the scary movie. (It was surprisingly fun :) I absolutly love being at the library.YAY for Hampton

Really awesome morning

Wow! This has been an awesome morning. Today at 11:00 the "Unhuggables" were here. I actually held a snake!! Ok so Cynthia held most of it while I let it wrap its upper body around me. But hey, I don't normally like stuff like that so it was an accomplishment for me. (Actually it was really cool :)! After the program, a lady with really cute kids came to sign them up for the MSRP. It was so funny. When they were about to leave one of her little boys refused to leave the library until he had read 25 hours! He REALLY wanted his circus ticket!!! She finally convinced him that they needed to go home. It's great that kids want to read that much!

Wow! This has been a really looooong day! It's also been really fun! So this morning we worked on rehearsing the puppet show. I'm not actually in it but Pam made me the head critic :). It was so awesome to have permission to boss and criticize everybody!!! :) No but seriously all of the puppeteers are absolutely amazing. We did several rehersals and then at 1:30 the Lopez kids came over to watch and then give their opinions of the puppet show. Of course, they loved it! Afterwards Julio, Harry, and Carlos started singing and dancing. They're crazy!! It was hilarious when Harry made a puppet out of Carlos. All of us girls were embarrassed to do anything but we had fun watching. I can't wait for the puppet show tommorow.

Don't you hate it when technology just seems hates you?

Okay so yesterday we (Me,Maria,Mariana, and Pam) were going to watch a movie. Simple task, right? Wrong!!!! We tryed EVERYTHING!!! First the dumb laptops wouldn't connect to the InFocus machine. We tryed three different laptops. THREE!! Then we decided to just use a DVD player and coonect to another projector but the movie still wouldn't play. Pam said that the movie better be worth all this trouble because we were only going to be able to see a few minutes because setting this thing up was taking forever. I kind of laughed but I agreed with her. So we finally decided to ask one of the librarians to help us with it and he figured it out. We were so happy! It was funny though because then we only got to see like the first ten minutes of the movie because it was time to go and the library was closing. So yeah, technology sometimes sucks. But what can I say, sometimes that's the way life is.

Crazy Mexicans && all their Dang-On kids.

Today i met Carlos. No but today him && i were at the MSRP table when this mexican lady came up to us with all these thousands of Reading Logs. We were like OMGOSH!! Ahh.. and then funny thing is we only had enough supplies exactly for the number of kids she had. We had to refuel. And then when we fiinally gave her all the stuff i had forgotten to give her back the logs and i was all stressing out about it but then i realized that they had finish. What a relief.

Today...I liked it very much. I met a ton of new people who were extremely awesome! lol. We had been able to set up the Wii to the over head and played a bunch of games on it. As nearing the end, we had a fun group of teens. Everyone seemed to have been enjoying their time. Pics will hopefully be upload soon onto here. :D Can't wait for Monday....another Game Day. :D

Storytime!!!!!

I did Storytime today and it was really fun I can't wait to do it again.Some kids even came back for more stories. It really made my day!!!! :D Sorry I don't have any pictures. :(

Puppet Love

It was hot outside today. ugh. i had to ride my bike to the library...again. not the first time. but i tend to complain frivolously. But anyway... there was an astronomy program today. o_e wow. it was so cool! -.-" yeah a billion slides of fun on a powerpoint. and not to mention the highlight of the event. we all got buttons. haha. button. funny word. anyway. it was still cool. hanging out with chi, ty, lupe, and a girl i just met. her name was something with an m. so i'll just call her emm. SORRY EMM!!!! I FORGOT YOUR NAME!!! there's was this cute guy too. but i can only look...i can't touch. :D cause i have ricky. lol. well now ricky, aren't you just special? you get mentioned in this blog post. Random Days at the Library :D

Ivette - July 8

Wow. Today was a looong day. Harry, Maria && I took the bus && train ALL the way downtown to the Central Library to pick up some puppets for the puppet show coming up. Boy was it HOTT!! All I thought about on our way was the cold Dr.Pepper in my bag, begging for me to drink it. But I didn't because I knew I wouldnt finish it by the time we got to the library. Plus that meant I had to hold something else in my hand other than my purse. Did I forget to mention about the super cute guy sitting next to Harry on the train?? Well when we got on, Harry sat next to him && Maria && I sat in the seat besides Harry. Me and Maria came up with a lame excuse to talk to him. We "needed" a pen && he happened to have one :] lol. So he let us (well Harry because he asked) borrow one, but Maria && I gave it back to him, but this time we were sitting behind them since the seat got empty a few min later. After that, he wasn't as cute any more. Only from a distance. So sad :( lol. Omgosh!! On our way back from the library, Harry && I were carrying some red boxes filled with puppets, while maria's loser self just carried the purses && the wolf puppet, to the station. Well Harry went to this restaurant to order some food && while he was in there... Maria && I decided to prank him by getting on the other side of the train station to make him think the train && us left him. Man, you should have seen his face!! One of the most terrified, confused faces ever!! His eyes just opened up wide && he looked so hard. But then we caught his attention. Ahh.. Classic :]

manager meeting

I was asked to attend a Manager's meeting this afternoon to share best practices on providing teens resources and services that will bring them to the Library. I chose to focus on teen volunteerism at Hampton due to the fabulous teen spirit being shared with our community this summer. Instead of sharing my thoughts on why teens enjoy volunteering, I asked both staff and volunteers to tell me why....well, actually not me, but Chi! Chi interviewed staff and volunteers and the words that came up most from staff were: Teens bring creativity, life and fresh ideas to our work! The theme for why teens enjoy volunteering is a belief they can inspire others to read, something fun to be involved in, and to not be bored at home during the summer!

After I presented the feedback I asked to take a few pictures in order to share with the teens on their blog, so here is your management team!

Teen Meeting Today

There will be a quick teen meeting today, around a little after noon or so. FRIDAY, SATURDAY &&&& MONDAY-THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED. :)
